 Pupil of Dionisio Aguado
He taught at the Madrid Conservatoire.
Official archivist to Queen Isabella the Second.
Published his guitar method in 1852 and reprinted in 1868 with an additional treatise on harmony for the guitar.
Composer of about a hundred pieces and exercises for the guitar.
It is probable that he was Francisco Tarrega's teacher
he helped develop the technique of the tremolo.
Main contribution to is his guitar tutorial: "Método de Guitarra" (1852).
