Musical Background
Den Hardy grew up in a musical household and from an early age he was greatly influenced by his Uncle who was an accomplished jazz musician. As a teenager at college, studying classical guitar, Den formed a rock band with fellow students. In the early 70s he formed a jug band with Mac Gordon called “The Street Crawlers Union” and became well known on the London folk scene, as resident musicians at the “Tunc” folk club. Over the years Den has also been involved in various theatre & film projects. An early example is the music he wrote and performed for ‘the mexican' and ‘the agoraphobia' scenes in John Smith's film “The Black Tower”. Performances have included Womad, The Cambridge Folk Festival, The Barbican Centre and Ronnie Scott's in London.

Den went on to study Flamenco under the guidance of Tito Heredia. Some years later he moved to Spain where he continued to study Flamenco guitar and gained a guitar residency with CDC in Andalucia. During these few years in Spain, Den gained an excellent reputation as both a performer and teacher. He ran intensive guitar holidays and weekend workshops which proved to be very popular. Den has travelled widely in the pursuit of his musical development. In India he studied Indian classical music, and later whilst living in Crete, he had the opportunity to experiment with Cretan folk music. These musical influences have combined to produce a unique style which is evident in Den's many compositions. His musical proficiency continues to delight and excite his audiences.
In 2001 Den returned to the U.K. and has lived in Gloucestershire for the last 7yrs where he has continued to teach and perform. During these last few years Den teamed up with classical guitarist, Chris Finch, and together they formed ‘Tocaros'. As Tocaros they delivered outstanding performances of their compositions which are highly complex and technical, and yet played with all the ease that could only be expected from two exceptionally gifted musicians.

Performances for weddings and other special events.
How to create that special atmosphere is one of those essential decisions that will determine the success of any party or function. The presence of live music will greatly enhance the unique design and presentation of your memorable event. For a wedding event you may wish to have some gentle and romantic pieces played throughout the ceremony or during the signing of the register, followed perhaps by something more upbeat and festive as guests arrive at the reception. The choice is yours. If you let us know what ‘flavour' you wish to create, Den will do the rest
